How Facebook Decides What Goes Into Your News Feed

According to Facebook Help CenterNews Feed is the constantly updating list of stories in the middle of your home page. News Feed includes status updates, photos, videos, links, app activity and likes from people, Pages and groups that you follow on Facebook.

How News Feed Works

Adam Mosseri, product management director for News Feed, says that there are three major buckets of data go into what you see from your friends, publishers and marketers you’ve decided to follow.  Facebook’s chief product officer Chris Cox describes this data filter as the "top 20 things that really matter every day” to each of the network’s one billion users, and is based on:
1. The way you interact with your friends and your relationship with them
2. The type of content you interact with - if you look at a lot of videos, Facebook will show you in the News Feed more posts with videos in them.
3. Your activity on posts.

The stories that show in your news feed are influenced by your connections and activity on Facebook. This helps you to see more stories that interest you from friends you interact with the most. Facebook Help Center.
